Large Deformation Rheological Behaviour of a Model Particle Gel
Martin Whittle and Eric Dickinson
Abstract:
We report on some aspects of the large deformation rheology of a model networked particle gel. Simulated gels with short breakable bonds and longer essentially permanent bonds are compared and we discuss the rheology in relation to the structural consequences of strain. In this paper we focus on the response to relatively slow constant strain-rates and employ a constant stress algorithm to investigate the yield stress. We also examine the response to large deformation oscillatory strain and report on a comparison of these results with some experimental observations.
